Soo Hong is assistant professor of education at Wellesley College. Her research focuses on the intersection of school and community life. She examines issues such as parent engagement, the integration of immigrants into school communities, and the often times strained relationships between low-income families and schools. She is interested in the ways that schools and communities work together to build meaningful relationships, strive for educational equity though community organizing, and develop a greater understanding of the lives and experiences of families.

 

Soo’s book, A Cord of Three Strands: A New Approach to Parent Engagement in Schools, is available from Harvard Education Press.
